 Mike Davidson

Watch Dr Davidson debate the
therapy and talk about today's
Inquiry (2m 51s) >

PRAYER ALERT: Please pray for Christian therapist’s hearing today

Dr Mike Davidson is the subject of a Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) Inquiry today in London.
Please pray for a fair Inquiry today:
  • that Mike would have opportunity to raise his concerns and respond to the complaint
  • that the Committee's recommendation to the Board after the Inquiry would not sanction Mike in any way
At stake is the freedom of people to choose to have this kind of therapy if they want it, because some professional regulatory bodies are banning it in the UK.
Background

Dr Davidson is a trainee with the British Psychodrama Association (BPA). On a BBC local radio show last January (2012) he commented on his position in favour of therapy offered to those experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction. The debate was in the best traditions of free speech. The BBC journalist, among others, reported him to his professional body for believing that those with unwanted same sex attraction should be able to obtain professional assistance.

His supervisors have described Dr Davidson as a ‘sensitive and caring therapist’ who has a ‘deep compassion for people suffering emotional turmoil’ and as a man of integrity. But his professional livelihood may be damaged or even destroyed because he wants to help people with unwanted same sex attraction.  The evidence presented by the BPA and UKCP is unsubstantiated; on the contrary the evidence establishes that therapy to reduce same sex attraction can be successful without any emotional deficits.

Debate This Wednesday (30 January) Dr Davidson took part in a debate where he defended therapy for unwanted same-sex attraction. This video also features comments from Dr Davidson on his PCC inquiry today. (Christian Concern:here)
