Random Thoughts
I
can hardly believe the issues that we are discussing "On the Box"
lately. A woman received national attention because she married
herself.* Homosexuals are marrying each other. There is a political
battle over whether a woman has the right to kill her child in the womb
just because it's a girl. Who could have ever predicted that we would
fall so quickly into such moral darkness! Yet it was all laid out in
Scripture 2,000 years ago (see 2 Timothy 3:1–7). God's Word gives us a
bright beacon of light in this dark and evil world. Please, take
advantage of the freedom we still have to preach the gospel. It is the
only answer for this mess. Someone wrote to me last week and asked how
he could overcome a paralyzing fear of preaching. I told him: 1) Hold a
small a Gospel of John in your hand as you speak, and if your mind goes
blank, read John 3:1–16 and say, "Please think about that," then get off
the soapbox if you have nothing more to add. The odds are that
something will come to mind. Secondly, I asked him which was more
important to him: his fear (a lack of trust in God), or the salvation of
human beings from damnation in Hell. I respectfully ask you the same
question.
