  1. the Prayers of the Faithful are directed to the The Persons of the Trinity. I AGREE that Marian prayers do not belong at that part of the mass. In fact it is not even an option in the GIRM. Though it is quite common to include an Ave either recited or chanted after the communion antiphon post communion during the cleansing of the vessels.

I have a great devotion to Our lady, but Mass is for worshipping God even when we commemorate the lives of the Saints, including our Lady. IOW Even Masses in Her Honour are intended to glorify God and the prayers are to be directed to Him.

  2. Puff the Magic Dragon,
Thank you for your comment-my apologies for not responding sooner! You are absolutely right in your argument too! However, as I am no theologian or liturgist-the only point I would make is that;I am of the persuasion that if a canonical legitimate innovation that will enhance the glory, honor and worship of God the Father through Jesus Christ in The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass-then surely there is no better source and leader than Our Blessed Lady Herself. However, this only becomes problematic in the rite of the Novus Ordo Form of Mass or Ordinary Form (NO), where there appears to be so many unsavory and unwarranted innovations; outlandish bidding prayers (Prayer of the Faithful) inappropriate dancing etc! Nonetheless, there is none of these problems in the Traditional Rite of Mass (TLM) or Extraordinary Form! Therefore, for myself personally I have to say give me the Hail Mary anytime!

    Cheers, and God Bless.
