The London Bus Campaign:

Dear Friends,
Thank you once more for all your support in the London Bus Campaign.

We have been inundated with calls asking how people might donate towards pressing for a legal case against Boris Johnson for abusing his position, as Mayor of London, in stopping our adverts appearing on London buses.

If you wish to donate, simply go onto Core Issues website, scroll to the bottom where it says “DONATE”. (I believe you can donate directly without having to sign up to Paypal.) This page will also give you far more information about the presenting issue.

It goes without saying that the legal action initiated by Core Issues Trust to defend these rights to freedom of speech and belief will be costly. Conservative estimates are for a minimum of £20,000. Can you help us? If everyone on the data base were to contribute £5 or £10 – or more if you wish, we believe we could more than cover the costs. Christian freedoms must be defended, and we are committed to the battle - but without financial help we will fail before we’ve even begun.

Finally I must highlight this is not a tit for tat spat between Christians and Boris. The issues here go way beyond “turning the other cheek”. If individuals in powerful positions, can ride rough shod over the law of the land by using fear, blatant censorship, anti – Christian discrimination, sackings, threatening people with loss of their livelihoods, courts prejudiced in favour of homosexuals and even physical violence, then all our freedoms are in jeopardy. Justice and Truth that have taken two thousand years to establish in Britain will be lost in a day.

TS Eliot (1888–1965). The American-British poet and critic wrote:
“If Christianity goes, the whole of our culture goes. Then you must start painfully again, and you cannot put on a new culture readymade. You must wait for the grass to grow to feed the sheep to give the wool out of which your new coat will be made. You must pass through many centuries of barbarism. We should not live to see the new culture, nor would our great-great-great-grandchildren: and if we did, not one of us would be happy in it.”
The philosopher Will Durant, speaking of the journey that our civilisation took from barbarism to civilisation, said that it had required centuries, but “the journey from civilisation to barbarism needs but a day.”

His words were echoed in 2007 at the end of the debate on Gay Adoption by Gerald Howarth MP when he said, "Tony Blair has given us 20 months to adapt 2,000 years of Christian teaching. It's unacceptable."

We may thank our “luck stars” that we are not teachers, therapists, bed and breakfast owners, marriage registrars, counsellors, nurses or doctors etc. who have lost their jobs for standing for Christians truths, but one day, when we need their services, we will find that there is no one there to help us.

Like the Polish shipyard workers of the union, Solidarity, who on 31 August 1980, in Gdańsk at the Lenin Shipyards, faced an oppressive regime, we need to show solidarity.

Please consider dipping into your back pocket and donating- before even this freedom is taken away.

Finally please sign the Petition against the Terrance Higgins Trust.

God Bless and protect us and our children.

David Skinner
