Solemnity of St. Joseph
Pax! What a month! So much has happened in both the Universal Church and at the monastery in Norcia. Instead of sending you some recent homilies (which you can view on our blog), we want to share some of that recent news.
On Sunday, February 10th, we welcomed His Eminence, Raymond Cardinal Burke to the monastery for the Feast of St. Scholastica; it was an honor to host him. The very next day, Pope Emeritus Benedict announced his resignation from the papacy. If you haven't read Fr. Cassian's reaction, click here.
Shortly before Laetare Sunday, Fr. Cassian issued a "word of salvation" to nourish our Lenten observance.
And lest we forget: Habemus papam! Just before the joyful election of Pope Francis, our monks made a delivery of our beer, Birra Nursia, to the cardinal electors. Remember that our brewmaster is Br. Francis, so we think it's no small coincidence that Br. Francis' beer had something to do with the new Holy Father's name!
On Thursday, March 21st, the monks will welcome the Archbishop for the Solemnity of St. Benedict, our patronal feast. Please keep the monks in your prayers for this special occasion, and we'd be grateful for your financial support.
As Holy Week approaches, the monks wish you and yours every grace and blessing! Here is the schedule of liturgies, if you're able to attend or follow on our blog.
Let us unite in prayer during the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Our Lord.
In Domino,
The Monks of Norcia (here)
