On Monday (15th July) the House of Lords will vote at the Third Reading of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill. This marks the final stage of the Bill's progress in the House of Lords.

It's important to remember that the passage of the same sex 'marriage' Bill isn't a formality.

It's true that it doesn't look good; the Bill passed with a large majority at Second Reading in the Lords.

But we know that God is sovereign and has the power to change things around. We also know that continuing to stand for marriage is the compassionate thing to do. God's pattern for marriage and family is good for adults, good for children and good for society. When Jesus spoke about marriage, he upheld God's design of one man and one woman.

So will you keep standing for marriage? We'd love for you to join us this Monday.

We'll be meeting in Old Palace Yard, opposite the Houses of Parliament from 12-2pm and 5-7pm. The atmosphere on previous occasions has been very good. It would be great to see you there.

Please:
  • Show this video in your church on Sunday, which encourages people to come and pray
  • Print and put this poster up in your church, or simply ask for the event details to be put in your church service sheet

In response to our prayer rally, campaigners for same sex marriage are planning a counter-demonstration at the same time and place. Cunningly they plan to start at 11am in order to try and stake the space that we had planned to use. But this is not a time for us to retreat.

The campaigners are billing it as a celebratory 'marriage reception' with gay musicians, politicians and celebrities taking part. They are promoting the event heavily online and by email.
We don't know how many counter-demonstrators there will be. No matter how large or small our numbers it is vital we stand.

Jesus said: "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them" (Mt 18:20). We'd love to gather with you if you can make it.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and in taking action.
