Christian Concern-PRAYER ALERT: Law Society marriage debate - tonight:

Andrea Minichiello Williams of Christian Concern will be taking part in a debate at the Law Society tonight entitled “Protecting diversity: belief, conscience and the new definition of marriage".

Please pray for Andrea today as she prepares for the debate and later on as the debate takes place.

Pray that the Lord would give her wisdom and peace and help her as she explains the need for conscience to be protected when it comes to beliefs about marriage.

And please come along if you can make it. The event is free but you will need to book a place on the Law Society event page >

Why this debate?

This debate wouldn't be taking place if it weren't for our challenge to the Law Society's decision to ban a marriage conference last year.

We had booked the venue for a conference on the subject of marriage. But with just days to go before the event, the Law Society told us that it breached its 'diversity policy'. This was quite extraordinary, given that the speakers were simply going to debate marriage.

The QEII conference centre also did the same in taking a booking for the conference then cancelling the booking (the day before the event).

We were eventually able to host the conference in a central London hotel but began a legal action against the Law Society for breach of contract.

As a result of mediation we came to an out of court settlement earlier this year. As part of this agreement the Law Society agreed to organise and host a debate on marriage so here it is!
